A closer look

Understand the watch.
Know the details.

Look at the individual piece, its condition and the information that accompanies it before making a decision.

A closer look

Ask for current photographs of the specific watch, its reference and the condition details available for it. Review the dial, case, bracelet or strap, and any visible wear together.

A model description explains the reference. Photographs and condition notes explain the individual piece.

What accompanies it?

Confirm box and papers separately, together with any available service records. Ask the team to explain gaps in the history and any information that has not been verified.

Request the scope of any checks carried out and the supporting information available for this watch before agreeing to purchase.

An independent dealer

Luxury Perpetual is an independent watch dealer. Brand names identify the watches being discussed; they do not imply an official relationship with the manufacturer.

Any manufacturer warranty and any dealer warranty should be confirmed separately for the individual watch. Questions to ask about warranty.

Patek Philippe made 170 of these steel Nautilus watches for the 170th anniversary of its partnership with Tiffany & Co. Both houses signed the blue dial. The first example sold at Phillips for US$6,503,500 in 2021, benefitting The Nature Conservancy.

03The gold bezel

Audemars Piguet · Ref. 5402 · 1978

Gérald Genta acquired this example of his own design in 1978. Look at the contrast between the yellow-gold bezel and the steel bracelet. According to his family, Genta’s atelier made the bezel. Sotheby’s described the watch as possibly unique when it came to auction in 2022.
