Watch investment, considered carefully
A great watch.
A well-informed purchase.
Are luxury watches a good investment? Some references have appreciated, but the brand alone does not decide the outcome. We help you assess three things before you buy.
- 01The reference
- Rolex, Patek Philippe or an independent maker: we look at the exact model, its production details and demand beyond the headlines.
- 02The individual watch
- Condition, originality, service history, box and papers. The details of the actual piece matter as much as the name on the dial.
- 03The price you pay
- We discuss comparable evidence, purchase and ownership costs, and possible resale routes so you can judge the asking price.
Buy with future value in mind, and choose something you want to own. Watch values can rise or fall; appreciation and future buyback are not guaranteed.
Before you begin
The questions
worth asking.
What is the best watch to buy for investment?
There is no single best watch, but there are clearly better and worse buys at every budget. A strong reference, bought at a fair price and kept well, is a sounder starting point than chasing the next “winner”. We start with your budget, the exact reference, the individual piece and plausible resale routes, then discuss options and their drawbacks.
Will a luxury watch always increase in value?
No. Some references have appreciated, while others have fallen in value. The reference, condition, purchase price and market when you sell all matter. Past performance, a famous wearer or a brand’s retail price increase cannot promise a future resale price.
Do Rolex, Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet hold their value?
Rolex, Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet are established names in the secondary market, but performance varies by reference and individual piece. We compare condition, originality, demand and the price you pay, rather than treating the brand name as a guarantee of value.
How much should I spend on a first luxury watch?
A figure you could hold without needing to sell, and one that still leaves room for servicing, insurance and delivery. We will say so if a reference you like sits well above that, rather than stretching the brief to fit it.
More buying & sourcing questions7 more
Is it better to buy new or pre-owned in Dubai?
We deal in pre-owned watches. Buying new can bring a manufacturer warranty and a known first owner; pre-owned can bring a lower entry price, a discontinued reference or a piece with a history. Both depend on the individual watch, so we describe what applies to the specific piece rather than to a category.
What should come with a pre-owned watch?
Box, papers, warranty card, service records and any spare links or parts. Missing items should change what you pay rather than be read as proof either way. Ask for current photographs of each item alongside the watch.
Can you source a watch that is not listed?
Share the reference or the type of watch you have in mind. We can discuss sourcing possibilities, then confirm the available piece and proposed terms. No availability or price is promised until confirmed.
How should I check that a watch is genuine?
Request current photographs, reference details, condition notes and the evidence supporting any checks. Documents should be assessed alongside the physical watch. Where uncertainty remains, ask for a qualified independent inspection before purchase. Read our approach to the details.
What if I want to sell the watch later?
Start with a selling enquiry: share the watch and what accompanies it. A dealer offer is one route; a private sale or auction may net more but takes longer and carries its own costs. We will set out the options, and no buyback is promised.
Do you guarantee a return or a future buyback?
No investment return, future resale price or standing buyback is promised by this service. Any future offer depends on the piece and market at that time, and must be confirmed separately in writing.
Is there a commission or advisory fee?
We earn a dealer margin on watches we sell. We explain the watch price and any additional charges in writing before you commit. Any separate sourcing arrangement or fee must be agreed with you in advance.
